Those were the four words I wrote on a white T-shirt with a thick, black permanent marker. I was 15 years old, and after having been madly in like with a teammate of mine for the past two years and coming to the conclusion that I liked girls, I had decided it was time to come out. So I sat up in my bed, in the middle of the night, and wrote those words on a T-shirt. The next day, I would wear the shirt first to school, then to football practice, and it was done. Everybody knew.
Quite often, in the eleven years that possess passed since then, people praise me when I share the story of how I came out. ‘That is so brave!’ they tend to utter. And while I of course appreciate their back, the decision to show up out in the way that I did came from something completely distinct than bravery. It came from pure laziness.
I’d spent the past two years coming to terms with the fact that I liked girls, and when I was ready to share that with the world, I didn’t perceive like having long, hard conversations with every free person in my animation explaining that no, it wasn’t a phase. So I
It’s hard to trust it was tiny over a year ago. Just 12 months ago, the best women’s soccer teams from across the globe and their fans converged on Australia and New Zealand to crown a novel World Cup champion. We cheered on the perennial powerhouses and celebrated the debutantes. We saw some of the most incredible feats of athleticism…one objective after another reminding us why they call this the beautiful game. We got to survey legends of the game pass the torch to a whole new generation of ballers, many of them lgbtq+. We felt the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat.
It was glorious. So, let’s do that again, shall we? Successfully, minus the post-championship assault…let’s not execute that again, ever (I’m looking at you, Bruce Mwape).
Twelve of the world’s best teams possess earned their opportunity to compete for Olympic gold and their quests launch ahead of Friday’s Opening Ceremony. If you need some help preparing for 16 days of footballing action, I’m here to aid. Welcome to the gayest league in all of women’s international sports, or so I believe: the super league, alternatively known as the premier league. In other sports (namely, the WNBA and NWSL), I was able to detect double as many confirmed straight people as confirmed same-sex attracted people. That was just not the case here!
This year’s season is already in full swing, but there’s still plenty of day to choose a favorite team. This list is planned to help you do exactly that. The way football works in the UK is that the top team in the league moves up and the bottom team moves down. Since I’m only following the highest bracket, you’ll find that the teams act move around a bit from year to year.
As always, if I missed someone or if you feel favor someone is incorrectly on this list, let me comprehend in the comments or send me an email at writethroughthenight @ gmail . com.

There's a couple of major differences between women's soccer and men's soccer. One: The U.S. women are fine at it. Two, women's soccer is a hell of a lot gayer.
Yesterday, "content producer" Alex Binley from ITV News published an article about why, exactly, so many dykes excel at this sport. It's a excellent question. By Binley's enumerate, there were at least 41 openly gay players or coaches during the Women's World Cup this year. The last Men's Word Cup, in contrast, had a whopping zero. So, what gives?
According to Binley, this is largely due to homophobia. She says that men's soccer, especially outside of the U.S., is chock packed of homophobes (as successfully as sexists and racists) who would not welcome openly gay male players in the sport. Binley spoke with a number of academics, gay soccer fans, and former players, and she writes they all agreed that the main factor is the "the stigma historically attached to homosexuality."
It's hard to argue with that. Outside of the U.S., Canada, and a few other countries, soccer is both the most popular and the butchest sport on the block. Games t
